Jammu: Union Defence Secretary Shashikant Sharma on Wednesday reviewed the counter-infiltration operations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.
   
Sharma, who was on the last leg of his three-day visit to the state, was briefed about the counter-infiltration operations, the spokesman said.
   
He also had a detailed account of the recent ceasefire violations, the spurt in infiltration attempts by the terrorists and measures adopted by the army to counter these attempts.
   
The Defence Secretary and other officials later visited the Maniyarwala-based Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo). Army personnels gave Sharma an overview of the prevailing internal security situation in Rajouri and Poonch sectors.
   
The personnels apprised the visiting dignitaries about the multi-farious activities being undertaken by the Rashtriya Rifles to combat terrorism in the region.
   
Measures to integrate the populace into the national mainstream by various schemes under Operation Sadbhavana were also highlighted.
   
Earlier, Sharma had visited LoC areas in Kashmir and reviewed the security situation in Valley.
   
The delegation expressed its satisfaction on the high level of proactive alertness of the army on the LoC and the operations in the hinterland undertaken by the security forces in the south of Pir Panjal.
