New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Friday stressed that ‘united’ National Democratic Alliance (NDA) needed to defeat the Congress.

"Only a united opposition can defeat Congress. Whenever opposition got united, Congress was defeated," Sushma Swaraj said. "Therefore, NDA's unity is a historical necessity. We must do everything to keep NDA united," she said.

JD-U is upset over BJP’s decision to appoint Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its poll campaign chief for 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP so far maintained that the coalition is intact ‘for now’. Asked about the possibility of a split, BJP vice president  Mukhtar Ababs Naqvi said the Bihar government is "functioning so far".
