Bhopal: The indefinite strike by six Madhya Pradesh University (non-teaching) employees unions that was on since December 3, has been called off following assurances from the officials of the Higher Education Department, sources said.

The strike was called off late Thursday night, secretary of Madhya Pradesh University (non-teaching) Employees Federation Avinash Burbure said. The government has assured the federation that their demands like pension as per the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations and regularisation of casual and daily wage employees in Barkatullah University, Bhopal and in Devi Ahilya University in Indore, would be considered.

A meeting of higher education coordination committee will be held on December 22, in which, demands like increase in medical reimbursement and others would be considered, Burbure said in a release.

The MP University Service Officers' Association (MPUSOA) which had extended their support to the employees federation, had postponed their strike after getting assurance from the government about considering their demands within three months.
