New Delhi: Congress is trying hard to make its presence felt in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. This time, the party is likely to contest on more seats. The Congress strikes optimistic note stating that it will win over 100 seats.

With the recent electoral pact with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Ajit Singh and the recently concluded tour of Rahul Gandhi, the party is expecting miraculous results in the polls beginning in the first week of February.

The number of seats is likely to reach three point figures.

In a recent survey by the Congress, eastern Uttar Pradesh is considered to be the weakest link in the state for the party. But the loss could be compensated with the seats in western, central and Bundelkhand regions.

In an internal survey conducted last month, the Congress is expecting about 60 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Assurance of packages to the weavers, Social engineering for the backward classes, Rahul Gandhi’s visits, and electoral pact with Ajit Singh and the recent survey have infused a sense of optimism among the party workers.

The results of the survey also state that Rahul Gandhi has been established as the most glamorous and famous face in Uttar Pradesh.

Moreover, from the distribution of tickets and assurance of packages and the latest developments in the state, the Congress is hopeful of bagging the votes of the Muslim and backward.
