New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh is going to witness a fierce battle between two political stalwarts of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijay Singh and Uma Bharati, as both of them have started to train guns at each other, in what could be seen as a sounding bugle for the preparation of upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Digvijay and Uma, both are former Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, have been bestowed with the responsibility of tackling the forthcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh by their respective parties. Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh has been backing Rahul Gandhi for Mission 2012 in Uttar Pradesh and constantly making efforts to regain people’s confidence in the Mayawati land, while Uma Bharati, recently returned to the BJP after a long gap, has firmly assured of wiping out ‘goondagiri’ from Uttar Pradesh.

It is pertinent to mention that, Uma is not new to UP. She has been an integral part of the Ramjanmabhoomi movement and for her upfront nature she is commonly known as ‘fire brand’ in the media circle.

Uma, who has come down heavily on the law and order situation of Uttar Pradesh in the past two days, has not even spared Congress’s Diggi Raja. She recently stirred a controversy by terming Digvijay Singh as a “stepney” of Rahul Gandhi. She said, “He always contests against me to get defeated. In 2003, he lost as a Chief Minister, in Bihar his performance was poor, and now it is the turn of Uttar Pradesh.”

Following the diatribe of the Sadhvi, Digvijay jumped on the matter saying  “I don’t give much attention to Uma’s words. After leaving BJP, she had promised never to return to BJP, but she finally did the same thing. Hence, there is no credibility of her words.”
