Lucknow: The country’s premier investigative agency has found huge anomalies in the Blindness Eradication Praogramme run under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier this week, sleuths made surprise raids in10 hospitals of Uttar Pradesh and collected several documents.

During the investigation, the CBI found that the government hospitals were charging Rs 2000-4000 for lenses used in the cataract operation. Notably, hospitals receive Rs 750 per operation under NRHM.  Besides, hospital authorities are not providing free of cost spectacles to those who underwent surgery.

If the sources are to be believed hospitals have not given commuting expenditure to patients coming from far-flung and near-by villages. Besides, name of one patient has been repeated several times in the hospital registers.
