Allahabad: Putting a final end to the anxiety of students and their parents, the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education on Tuesday announced the state board class XII results 2012, in which the overall pass percentage stood at 89.40 percent.

Maintaining the trend, the girls outshine boys in the crucial examination held by the country’s most populous state.

GIRLS OUTSHINE BOYS

The overall pass percentage improved by 9.26 percent from last year, with girls registering a handsome success rate of 95.52 percent against 84.73 percent of boys.

CBSE Class XII results which were announced on May 28 also saw girls' pass percentage at 86.21 as compared to 75.80 percent of boys.

Announcing the results, the state's Director for Secondary Education Vasudev Yadav said that about 26.84 lakh candidates had appeared for the exams out of which about 26.07 lakh were declared successful.

To view the UP Board Intermediate Result 2012, candidates can log on to the official website of the state board or avail the SMS facility.

The students can visit http://upresults.nic.in/UPBIN12/InterGetRoll.htm and access their results by entering their district followed by their allotted roll numbers.

Also, the candidates can view their results online by logging on to- http://www.jagranjosh.com/exam-results/up-board-result-2012

For SMS, all registered Vodafone and Idea Users can type <UP12 Roll Number> and send it to 572721.

For example if your roll no is 123567, send your SMS by typing <UP12 123567> and send it to 572721.

Other Users can send SMS to 57272. Type <UP12 Roll Number> and send it to 57272.

For example if your roll no is 1234567, then type <UP12 1234567> and send it to 57272.

Those passing the Intermediate examinations, have also a reason to cheer as the newly-elected Samajwadi Party government has promised to distribute free laptops among them.

BOYS PASS PERCENTAGE WITNESSES IMPRESIVE RISE

Although the pass percentage of the girls was 10.79 percent higher than that of the boys, the male students' pass percentage rose by an impressive 14.2 percent while that of the females saw a modest increase of 4.76 percent, Yadav said.

However, the proportion of those securing a first division fell by 5.12 percent even as the percentage of those getting second and third division grew respectively by 4.93 percent and 1.43 percent, he added.

BHADOHI STUDENTS PERFORMED OUTSTANDING

Students from Bhadohi put up the best performance (96.12 percent) followed closely by Jaunpur (95.68) and Sitapur (95.68).

MATHURA STUDENTS PERFORMED WORST

The most dismal performance came from Mathura where only 67.05 candidates secured pass marks.

Also, in subjects like English, Hindi, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, more than 90 percent of the candidates secured pass marks though in Mathematics the success rate was slightly lower at 87.71 percent.

CLASS X RESULTS LIKELY ON JUNE 8

The state board class 10 results is expected on June 8. Examinations for class 10th and 12th were conducted by the board in March 2012.
