Lucknow: Despite several allegations leveled by the Opposition partiess, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati seems to be undeterred as she is stuck to her guns of reservation.

Mayawati again sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday demanding reservation for Muslims in proportion of their population, poor from upper caste and Jat community.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh CM had written letters on September 14 and 15 to the PM for reservation for the aforesaid segments of society.

This time, Mayawati has stated that all these matters are very sensitive and have national importance.

According to Mayawati, if Sachar Committee’s intention is to bring change in the condition of Muslims, the need of the hour is to step up opportunities in every field like jobs and education.

Similarly, she also demanded inclusion of Jat community in the OBC category citing that due to less cultivable land, they are economically weaker.

Mayawati requested the Centre to include OBC castes such as Kahara, Kashyap, Kewat, Mallah, Nishad, Bind, Kumhar, Prajapati, Dhiver, Bhar, Rajbhar, Batham, Turaha, Gond, Lonia-Chauhan, Pal and Baghel in the SC/ST list after increasing the existing quota.
