A sunny afternoon on Friday provided some relief but the evening witnessed heavy rains in many parts of Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has predicted more rainfall in the coming days. Director of Meteorological Department, JP Gupta, said that the rains were likely to stop from Monday.

The maximum temperature in Lucknow on Friday was 19.3 degrees Celsius (three degrees below normal) and the lowest was 5.2 degrees Celsius (two notches below normal). While most cities witnessed clear weather on Saturday, the outskirts and highways were enveloped in dense fog, Gupta said.

The night temperatures dropped steeply in Agra, Moradabad, Meerut and Gorakhpur on Friday. The railways said over 20 trains were running late after fog affected the visibility.
