Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has given the go-ahead to begin classes at Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, considered a dream project of Cabinet minister Azam Khan.

"I am glad and thank Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for getting the authority letter (for starting academic session in 2012-13) issued for the University," Khan said in a statement here.

Referring to the Bill pertaining to grant of minority status to the university, pending with the Governor, Khan expressed hope that he would take a positive decision on the matter soon.
