Lucknow: In an effort to check the practice of charging unreasonable fees by government recognised private schools, the state government has issued orders to the District Magistrates to initiate the process to de-recognize the schools which failed to comply by the given instructions.

They orders clearly mentions that the students should be charged a combination of education fees and inflation fees, which is affordable for teachers, clerks and Class IV workers and should be enough to give salaries to teachers and staff members.

After paying salaries, the school management should not save more than 20 percent of the total amount and there should be no hike in fees for the next three years. After three years, whenever the fee is raised, it should not be more than 10 percent.

According to orders, school must charge for education, inflation, development, electricity, water and for special subjects like library, science, plays, computers and music.

Schools have been restricted from charging registration, building and capitation charges from the students. On May 19, the state government had issued government order which underlines the terms for recognizing a school and had fixed the school fees.
