New Delhi: The Planning Commission is all set to pose trouble for the Bhajun Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati ahead of Assembly elections.

Montek Singh Ahuwalia, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, will visit Bundelkhand along with his associates to inspect execution of funds released for the region. Following the complaints about the dismal condition of the region, Ahuwalia will stay in Jhansi on December 3 and 4 to review the development work.

As a matter of fact, taking a serious note of the complaints on misappropriation of MPLAD fund, Minister of State Pradeep Jain Aditya has submitted a detailed report on the development work. According to the report, funds have been siphoned off from the water resource management programme.

Over Rs 3506 was allocated to seven districts of Uttar Pradesh and Rs 2760 for six district of Madhya Pradesh. Ironically, the Central government has released 92 percent fund of the total package, but UP has not utilized 40 percent of the fund. At a time when MP government took approval for 59 proposals, UP presented only 16 proposals for the development.
