Amethi: A day after a delegation of farmers, whose land is likely to be acquired for a 40-kms long by-pass, met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and handed over a memorandum against it, a team of the officials of the state government have rushed on Saturday to look into the matter.

The farmer's delegation yesterday met Congress general secretary and voiced their concern over the acquisition of the land for the construction of 40-kms long Jafrabad-Musafirkhana by-pass.

The state team, led by Uttar Pradesh PWD Department official Manoj Kumar arrived here at the Munshiganj guest house this morning and met Congress party officials and later left for Faizabad for further discussions.

The team would also meet the farmers who would be affected by the project and take note of their complaints besides inspecting the area.

According to party sources, Rahul Gandhi has issued instructions for holding further discussions, if required, in Delhi to address the problem.
