Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday directed for lodging an FIR against manager and principal of the school in which six children were killed in Bijnor following a roof collapse, and ordered inspection of the buildings of all junior high schools in the state.

Basic Education Minister Ram Govind Chaudhary gave directives to lodge an FIR against school manager and principal of the school and notice has been issued to cancel its recognition, an official spokesman said here.

Chaudhary said the school was unaided but recognised by the government.

He has also ordered the buildings of all aided, recognised and board's junior high schools inspected by basic education officers and submit a report within two months. He directed that repair work be carried out wherever required.

"I assure that all efforts would be made to check recurrence of such incidents in the future," Chaudhary said. Six students were killed and seven injured when the roof of Manshadevi Junior High School collapsed in Bijnor district on Friday. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had already ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, Urban Development Minister Mohd Azam Khan has expressed grief over the deaths of the students in the incident.

He said prima facie the management of the school appeared responsible for the incident, whose alleged carelessness led to the deaths and injuries.
