New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government will bear the medical expenses of all the victims of Kumbh fire that broke out on January 25.

Eight pilgrims, who got severely injured during the fire, are in serious condition and no major improvement has been noticed in their health.

The administration has taken cognizance of the matter after the relatives of the victims filed complaints over lack of medical aid. Now, the expenses will be borne by UP Health Department.

Apart from this, the government will return the amount to the victims’ kin who spent the money on medicines.

However, no proper arrangements have been made for the relatives to stay in the hospital despite directions from Minister of State for Health.

Notably, a fire broke out at the Maha Kumbh congregation in Allahabad injuring at least 19 people and gutting a couple of pandals. Some of the seriously injured persons had been referred to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi.
