Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is all set to introduce measures to prevent food wastage at public places and ceremonies. Food wastage as a subject will be introduced in the syllabus of schools.

Special Secretary (Food) Subhash Chandra Trivedi informed that Chief Secretary has issued guidelines to include food wastage as a subject in the syllabus of schools and colleges to create awareness.

The Department of Consumer Affairs has prepared a report and found that there is approximately about 15-20 percent of food gets wasted at social gatherings and weddings. The report says that the rate of food wastage is higher in urban areas as compared to rural areas.

The awareness campaign regarding wastage of food is being carried out in the entire nation.
