Lucknow: With an eye on the 2012 Assembly elections, the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh has decided to establish better relations with the public broadcasters: Doordarshan and All India Radio.
The state government has written to its secretaries directing it to build better relations with the public broadcasters.

The secretaries concerned have been advised to be prompt in responding to the information sought by the public broadcasters and provide all the information to them about the welfare schemes and development programmes run by the state government.

The BSP government has till now restricted itself from using these platforms due to their image of being pro-Centre that is presently being ruled by the congress-led UPA.

The decision has been arrived at after the party leaders observed that in the wake of Doordarshan and Akashvani still having dominant presence in the rural areas, its utilization in election campaign can’t be ignored.
