Lucknow (JPN/ Bureau): Wary of rising crime against women in Uttar Pradesh, State Governor BL Joshi asked the UP government about the programmes for checking crimes against women and inquired about the actions taken by the government in this connection.

Unhappy with the reply, the Governor may have comprehensive talks with the government on law and order situation of the state.

Highlighting Shilu incident in Banda, sexual assault on Divya in Kanpur, Sarika incident in Fatehpur, Joshi voiced concerns on average five mishappenings take place daily in the state.

According to sources, Chief Minister held meeting with top brass officials and apprised the Governor of actions being taken against perpetrators.

On the basis of national crime bureau’s report, the government said that the crime rate in UP is less than that of other states.
