Lucknow: The prime witness of Uttar Pradesh NRHM scam Namit Tandon tried to commit suicide on Saturday by coming under speeding train. Suffering from serious injury, Tandon’s condition is critical at the trauma centre.

Meanwhile, a kin alleged that Tandon took the step following immense mental pressure created by CBI officers during investigation.  Ritu, wife of Namit Tandon accused the CBI of building pressure on her husband for the last 15 days.

She said, “From morning till late evening, CBI officers constantly grill my husband. He was forced to become government witness in NRHM scam.”

Joint Director CBI, Javed Ahmed, however, denied all accusation and batted for the probe into the suicide case.

Namit, resident of Bagh Tola, is a contractor by profession who constructed 15 ANM centres in Lucknow and nearby villages under NRHM scheme. On Saturday morning, Namit was called for investigation. Instead of visiting CBI office, he parked his motorcycle near Gautam Buddha Park and jumped under speeding train.
