Lucknow: In a surprise development in Uttar Pradesh, the Food and Logistics Department officials sidelined the decision of state Cabinet’s approval for pay panel recommendation. The Cabinet had approved the salary recommendation by the pay committee three months back.

When the inquiry was set up, the officials concerned became oblivious to such approval. Even the letter confirming the decision went missing. The matter came to light when the Cabinet Committee decided to review the status of implementation of the pay panel recommendation.

The state Cabinet on March 10 had given its approval to the recommendations of the Pay Committee. The pay committee had recommended for various departments including Food and Logistics Department. The marketing branch of Food and Logistics Department was supposed to get new pay scale as per the Committee’s recommendation.

After the approval from the Cabinet, the concerned departments had to seek the consent of finance department for issuing the order. Since the matter was directly related to the Chief Minister, all departments except Food and Logistics passed their order, which was revealed during a review meeting. The chief cabinet secretary of CM regularly reviews Cabinet announcements.
