New Delhi: The past few days have witnessed a sudden surge in the Congress efforts for the forthcoming assembly election in Uttar Pradesh. With the declaration to announce the third list of candidates in the first week of November, the Congress has also reflected an inclination to truck along with Apna Dal in the assembly polls.

Interestingly, the move has been initiated even though the Congress is yet to make a final call on a likely pre-poll pact with RLD.

The Congress has already declared 135 candidates and another 115 names are likely to be announced soon. If sources are to be believed, the party is yet to arrive on a conclusion on the seat sharing deal with RLD chief Ajit Singh Chaudhary.

According to sources, the party has started its preparations on many front, while declaration of candidates remain priority for the Congress.

Whereas, meeting with the Congress Central Election Committee has already been held over seats of half dozen candidates. However, no announcements have been yet made in this context.

It is believed that party high command Sonia Gandhi, UP In-charge and general secretary Digvijay Singh and the chairman of the selection committee Mohan Prakash will made the final decision in matter pertaining to UP polls. The meeting of the Screening Committee would be held before Diwali.
