Gorakhpur: The political gameplan and strategy among different parties have caught up speed with the conclusion of first phase of polls in Uttar Pradesh. With seven more phases of polling at hand, political parties are keeping a strict vigil on the trends that would emerge on 114 seats of the first two phases.

While the Samajwadi Party is giving a tough challenge to the BSP in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party are also claiming to regain their lost ground in the state.

The BJP and the Congress leaders revealed that though they had separate strategies for each phases, the mood of the voter will be helpful in carving out further course of action.

The Congress in the previous Lok Sabha elections in the state had performed well but prominent party leaders are facing a tough time in the current polls. While Jagdambika Pal and Beni Prasad Verma are trying hard for their sons to emerge victorious, Kushinagar MP RP Singh is engaged in the battle of prestige on Padrauna seat.

The Bahujan Samaj Party state chief Swami Prasad Maurya had defeated Singh in the last assembly elections besides claiming victory in the assembly by-polls.

On the other hand, BJP leader Yogi Adityanath is making every effort to make his presence felt in the region. Party chief Surya Pratap Shahi is also hoping for a victory in Pathrava.

The fourth major contender in the elections, Samajwadi party is counting on the strategy of ‘change’ in the state to win the elections.

While the BJP has carried out a massive poll campaign in the region by visiting every house to ask for votes, Congress scion Rahul Gandhi has left no stone unturned in carving a place for the party in the state by holding rallies.

However, the tug of war between the Congress and the BJP is expected to favour regional parties and independent candidates in the polls.
