New Delhi: With the electoral war heating up in Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has rolled up his sleeves against Chief Minister Mayawati to dethrone her in the upcoming state Assembly elections.

Utilising the opportunity to target BSP Supremo engulfed in the political storm on the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM)scam and the irregularities discovered in MNREGA, the Congress scion will kickstart his five-day intensive campaign on Tuesday to make people aware of the failure of the state government.

In order to strengthen its ground amid the Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party’s political yatras pulling the masses in the state, Rahul Gandhi has been assigned the task, just after the Phoolpur rally, along with UP Congress Election Campaign Committee Chairman and Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal to speed up campaigning in the state.

According to reports, Rahul after holding a meeting with the party workers at Barabanki district headquarters on November 22 will address another conference at Ramnagar Assembly constituency on the same day.

He will then head for Kesarganj in Bahraich to hold discussions with the party workers at Bondi and Mahansi constituencies. After spending the night in Bahraich, Rahul’s next destination will be Majhrehata, Nanpara and Bhinga to interact with masses on November 23.

On November 23, he will also address a conference at Balrampur and will than hold a meeting with the party workers at Tulsipur, Gaisndi and Utraula constituencies.
The party has yet not announced his programme of November 25 but Rahul is expected to remain in the Purvanchal region. On November 26, he will address a major political rally in Kushinagar.
Meanwhile, the party high command, Sonia Gandhi, has discussed the poll preparations and selection of candidates in the central election committee meeting and gave her nod to the third list of a three dozen candidates. The fourth list can also be announced soon comprising 55 to 60 candidates.
