Lucknow: UP Minister Raveer Upadhya facing probe by the Lokayukta is once again in the limelight albeit for wrong reasons. Being the power Minister, he is reported to have allotted as many as 26 vehicles of Power Corporation for his personal use.

This was revealed by the Management of Power Corporation following an RTI plea filed by former MP Bhanu Pratap Singh.

According to the RTI, Upadhya in the capacity of Power Minister has in the last four years got allotted as many as 26 vehicles of the UP Power Corporation Limited and the Dakshinachal Power Distribution Corporation for his personal use.

The Power Corporation which is facing financial crunch has spent crores of rupees on the upkeep of these vehicles.

Interestingly, the minister who is enjoying a Cabinet rank has already been allotted a vehicle by the Estate Department.

Although this information has come from the Management of Power Corporation, the minister has vehemently denied to have used so many vehicles. He said that wrong information was given by the department under the RTI to malign his reputation.

The Minister said that since he is provided with Z security, two additional vehicles move with his cavalcade whereas the number of vehicles generally increases to five.

He has ordered the Director of Power Corporation to probe the matter immediately.

Meanwhile, the CMD of Power Corporation Navneet Sahgal has said that the minister is not using any vehicle of the corporation presently.
