Shahjahanpur: Toeing the lines of Rail Mail Service (RMS), the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is all set to start a superfast courier service which will not only expedite the mail service but will also help in building the exchequer of state roadways.

The draft is been prepared and the service to expected to start soon.

According to sources in the Roadways department, three high-level meetings have been held so far in Lucknow on this service. The proposal has been approved in-principle and officials claim that this service will be beneficial for both users and UP roadways.

Once the service starts, the parcels to be sent will reach its destination within few hours rather taking days via buses.

According to officials, the mails took at least two days to reach their destination in the state. Even registered post took 3-5 days to reach the other end.

Sources say the service has been outsourced but the mails and other parcels will be supplied through UPSRTC buses only.

Provisions for security check of parcels will be made at the stations and all items will be booked beforehand.
To date, sources say, parcels through couriers were sent through UP roadways but the money generated from it went to drivers and conductors.

The purpose of the service is to stop this business of drivers and increase the exchequer of UP roadways.
