Lucknow: A wanted criminal, carrying a cash reward of Rs one lakh on his head, was arrested by Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police from Jaipur, a top police official said in Lucknow on Thursday.

Susheel alias Moonch, who is leader of a gang active in Uttarakhand, Delhi and Haryana along with UP was arrested by the STF near Pink Square mall at Adarshnagar in Jaipur on Wednesday night, Additional Director General of Police  Arun Kumar told reporters in Lucknow.

He said that Susheel has around 40 cases, including those of murder, loot and attempt to murder, lodged against him at various police stations in UP, Uttarakhand and Haryana.

The ADG said that Susheel, who had executed several sensational crimes in the last three decades had prepared a network of contract killers.

He said that in 1991, Susheel with the help of his aides killed former block head Surendra Kukda in Nai Mandi area of Muzaffarnagar district.

In addition to this, he killed a lawyer Hari Garg in Dehradun in  1992 and later eliminated his brother in 1994. Kumar said that shooters of Susheel gang killed leader of Khatauli sugar mill employees Kaluram Gurjar in 1994, its deputy manager S C Jaggi in 1999 and in the same year eliminated leader of the opposite gang Nafees Kalia.

He said that a native of Muzaffarnagar, Susheel had accumulated property worth several crore rupees through crime and invested it in the name of his relatives.
