Patna: A day after Congress indicated that it is looking for 2014 allies, JD (U) leader Shivanand Tiwari on Saturday claimed that the UPA wants his party as an alliance partner.

“We asked for a special status for Bihar from the government. They did not give it, now they want us as an ally,” Tiwari said.

On Friday, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh had said that the Congress is hunting for alliance partners across the country because they know that no single party can win a majority on its own in 2014 parliamentary polls.
