Making particular reference in a Facebook comment to Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan and Mizoram Governor Vakkom Purushothaman, both Congress leaders from Kerala, he said they were "stalwarts" whose experiences would be of use to the party in its hour of crisis.
"As for those Governors who have been appointed by the UPA Government, to resign or not is a big question...I feel that it could be in keeping with the unparalleled tradition and status of the Indian National Congress to forgo these political appointments," Sudhakaran said.

Sudhakaran added that it was inappropriate to accept any “favour” from Narendra Modi-led-NDA government in this connection.
The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) is yet to react to the views aired by Sudhakaran, one of the general secretaries of the state unit.
Sudhakaran, however, justified his comment on the hotly debated issue saying he was prompted to put them out as he was pained by the sharp digs made by some of the BJP leaders against the Governors continuing in their posts.
