Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women (UPSCW) in its recommendation to the state government has asked it to observe Women's Day on the eight day of every month instead of every year. International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 every year.

Monthly celebration is a part of recommendations sent to the government by the Commission’s secretary, Anita Verma Singh.

The Commission has stated that it expects quick disposal of grievances of women by the UP administration. The Commission has also asked the state government to check the crime against women in the state.

Other recommendations include conducting medical tests within 24 hours of a woman who has suffered sexual abuse; cases of related to women be heard by a female judge and women related crime be probed by a female police official.
