Jim Himes, Member of US House of Representatives would be presented the award by Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Connecticut during a function in Stamford over the weekend, a media release has said.

"A member of India Caucus, Jim has been a supporter of Indian American community. Himes has been working hard to provide all children in America, access to a first-rate public school, affordable and effective health care, a decent and safe home, and a supportive community," GOIPO-CT said.

Global Organization of People of Indian Origin is a UN accredited NGO to participate in the World Conference against racism.

Apart from Himes, five other Indian Americans would also be honoured during the occasion.

They include Dr Subbarao Bollepalli who will be awarded for his achievement in medicine and the business couple, Ashok and Meera Vasudevan for entrepreneurship award.

While Arati Sureddi has been selected for young achievers award, Prasad Chirnomula has made to the list for his efforts in promoting India cuisine to American society.
