Mumbai: A R Rahman, maestro of melody and a multiple Academy and Grammy-award winning composer has teamed up with American music icon Michael Bolton for the latter's new album releasing this June.

"When I first met Michael, we got to talking about music, philosophy, the universe, and many things that we had in common," said Rahman who has composed the romantic track
"Sajna" for Bolton's 21st studio album set for release on June 21, 2011.

"I wanted Michael to do a bit of singing that he's never done before, without compromising on his musicality," says singer-composer-producer Rahman who scooped up Oscars for
Danny Boyle-directed "Slumdog Millionaire" in 2008.

Bolton, a former hard rock singer and best known for his soft rock ballads and vocals says he enjoyed recording the album.

"It was an incredibly rewarding experience recording this album," said Bolton. "The opportunity to work with legendary talent like David Foster, Dan Huff, A R Rahman and some of the absolute greatest singers and recording artists in the entire world was inspiring. I can't wait to share the special music we all created with the world," said the US singer-songwriter in a statement released on Tuesday.

Productions by acclaimed songwriters, producers and musicians such as David Foster, Dann Huff and Rudy Perez are also featured in Bolton's studio album by Sony Music/Legacy
Recordings.
