"This line will save a lot of time for commuters, who want to go to Central Secretariat and will also ease pressure on the Rajiv Chowk station that hosts lakhs of passengers daily," Naidu, who flagged off train services on the Central Secretariat - Mandi House section of Delhi Metro's Phase-III, said.

The three-km underground corridor has two stations - Janpath and Mandi House. It is expected to serve 70,000 additional commuters.

Mandi House station will provide interchange facility with the currently operational Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida City Centre line. The third phase of Delhi Metro is slated to be completed by the end of 2016.
