Ghaziabad: At least 15 people were injured when a train collided with a truck near Guldhar railway station, few kilometers away from here in the wee hours on Thursday.

The accident happened when 18478Haridwar-Puri Utkal Express hit the rear part of the truck passing through the railway crossing.

Nine passengers who met with serious injuries were rushed to the nearby Ganesh hospital in Gaziabad while the other six passengers were released after giving first aid, officials said.

The railway administration has ordered an inquiry in the incident.

The truck driver is absconding after the accident. However, a case has been registered with the railway police, Meerut.

According to the police and locals, the accident occurred when the rear part of the truck clashed with the train while the truck driver was attempting to reverse it at the railway crossing near Guldhar railway station.

Passengers standing near the gate of S-1, S-9, S-10 and the general boggie train were those injured.

Among the injured are: Farookh (32) from Roorkee, Suteshwar (69) from Odissa, Kamlesh (36) form New Delhi, Srinath Sahu (74) from Odissa, Harendra (20) from Madhya Pradesh, Sheetal (10) Madhya Pradesh, Mohammad Yashif (25) from Jhansi, Chandrika Ray (22) from New Delhi, Sundar Pal (42) from Madhya Pradesh, Ashu (21) from Faranegar, Rajendra (22) from Madhya Pradesh, Mukesh Kumar (28) from Meerut, Jaswinder (34) from Meerut Cant., Kehar Hanna (34) from Madhya Pradesh.
