Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday celebrated his 39th birthday at his official residence here without the pomp and show with which his predecessor used to celebrate the occasion.

"Unlike in previous Mayawati regime when lavish functions were organised to celebrate CM's brithday, Akhilesh made it a simple affair by meeting people and accepting greetings of party workers and well wishers", Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said.

Though due to strict directives from the party, banners, flags and posters wishing happy birthday were missing from the city, huge number of supporters gathered at party office and residence of the CM to greet him on the occasion.

Besides, party legislators, ministers and MPs, Akhilesh met common man and heard his grievances and ordered officers to solve them on priority.

He not only arranged return fare for one Aman and his wife Basanti, who came from Lalitpur to meet the CM but also asked officers to write down application for a person, who came to seek his help.

Akhilesh on the occasion assured people that he would try to come up to their expectations.
