Lucknow: In an effort to avoid the urban body polls in the state, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in Uttar Pradesh has come up with a new move. The government has decided to extend the time for the proposed amendment of ward reservation and rotation in the state urban bodies.

The state government has extended the time from seven days to one month for inviting suggestions and objections over the issue of wards reservation and rotation amendments.

In this way, the UP government has blocked the ways for urban body elections before Assembly polls.

Acting upon the decision, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Durga Shanker Mishra is all set to publish the State Municipal Corporation Rules-2011 to amend the Corporation Rules of 1994.

Notably, a notification was issued for amending the urban bodies rules on May 13 with a given time span of seven days for inviting suggestions and reactions. The Urban Development Department had even rejected the suggestions.
