Uttarakhand BJP workers in festive mood

Dehradun: Bhartiya Janata Party workers erupted in joy and celebrated the victory of the party in Tehri by –poll with great fanfare in the capital Dehradun on Saturday.

On the other hand, there was an utter silence in Congress camp after party’s debacle in this election.

Remarkably, when the counting was in the process on Saturday, everyone had his eyes riveted on the poll result.

When indications about Bhartiya Janata Party candidate taking lead started coming out during the initial phases of counting at Niranjanpur Mandi complex in capital Dehradun, there was a celebration like atmosphere at the state BJP office which however, increased by the time clock ticked 1 in the afternoon.

Party workers started tapping their feet and fired crackers out of joy.

Uttarakhand BJP president Bishan Singh Chuphal, Ajay Bhatt, head of BJP Legislature party, visited the party office by 1.15 am while former Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri reached party office by 1.30 am to take part in the celebration.

Among those who were present on the occasion included BJP state convener Tilak Raj Gupta and PGDAV student leader Mahesh Jaguri.

On the other hand, there was an utter silence in the Congress camp and at the party head quarters also in the state. There was not much activity albeit a few party leaders present there.

However, Pritam Singh, Congress legislator from the Chakrata Assembly seat, said that the party leaders were introspecting over party’s debacle while a similar view was expressed by Vijay Saraswat, general secretary of Uttarakhand unit of the Congress.
