Dehradun:  As speculations of change of guard in Uttarakhand are ripe, the move of the ruling BJP to ask Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to step down is likely to give a blow to the Congress, which has been banking upon encashing the poor goodwill of Nishank ahead of the Assembly polls.
If BJP replaces Nishank, Congress will have to shift its focus from Nishank factor in the given political scenario.

Holding the opposition in Uttarakhand for last five years, Congress has done a fine homework to target Nishank over the issues of Hydro Electric Project Allocation, Citurjia scam, Kumbh Mela, disaster relief and other corruption issues.

The issue of the CM’s educational background has also been challenged.

In case Nishank is asked by his party to step down, the Congress would have to reframe its strategy for the Assembly elections.
