New Delhi:  Uttarakhand High Court has issued a notice to Revenue Minister, Diwakar Bhatt on Monday while hearing a Public Interest Litigation filed by Bharat Heavy Electrical Bhoomi Visthapit Samiti (BHEBVS) on the land allotment to BHEL in Haridwar.

BHEBVS in its PIL has informed the High Court that eight thousand acres of land were acquired for the construction of BHEL at Haridwar in 1962.

According to the PIL,after setting up the factory thousands acre of land were left unutilized. The petitioners maintained that for a long time there has been a persistent demand to give back the unutilized land to the farmers.

In the PIL, the petitions have alleged that the government is illegally allotting the land to BHEL and other institutions.They have accused the government of setting up a committee headed by Revenue Minister, Diwakar Bhatt to regulate the allotted land instead of removing the illegal acquiring.
