Dehradun: Bharatiya Janata party president Nitin Gadkari will officially kickstart the campaign for Uttarkhand Assembly elections 2012 during a function at Parade ground here.

This will be the first political function after the change of guard in the state and will be attended by senior leaders of the BJP including Gadkari.

Although the BJP has strong hold in the state, but its infighting has often posed difficulties for the leaders.

The BJP has handled the state’s reins for six years during which Chief Ministers had to change five times.

Coming to power after the 2007 Assembly polls, the BJP-led Uttarakhand government had to change party’s leader twice.

Now, eyeing the assembly polls next year, the party does not want to take any risks.

The BJP’s strategy to put former state CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank at helm of the affairs has proved that the party is ready to tackle its rival parties.
