Gopeshwar: While the Uttarakhand government has laid thrust on improving the quality of education in schools, the startling revelation in a state school has given shock to Education Department authorities. A primary school in Chamoli district was being used for stocking and sale of country made liquor.

On a tip off by the locals, SDM Ramjee Sharan Sharma along with a police team raided the primary school. The police team recovered country made liquor and the material required for the distillation process in bulk quantity.

Following which, the police team raided Narodhar village and arrested Laxman Singh along with three women. In the sudden raid police team recovered over 35 litre alcohol.

A case has been lodged with the police in this regard.

SDM Ramjee Sharan Sharma told the reporters “Our campaign against illegal production of country made liquor will continue until such actions are stopped.”

He further added, “The recovery of alcohols from the school premises is extremely shocking.”
