Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna may field his wife Sudha from the Tehri Lok Sabha seat that will fall vacant once he resigns on being elected to the state Assembly.
Bahuguna, who recently won Sitarganj Assembly by-elections, has announced that he will resign from Tehri Lok Sabha seat on July 21. Congress sources said several party MLAs and senior leaders, including Satpal Maharaj and N D Tiwari, are likely to support Sudha's candidature.
Opposition BJP might field Tikarani Shah, daughter-in-law of late Maharaja Manvendra Shah, against Sudha if she is fielded from the seat. Former Chief Minister B C Khanduri is also seen as a prospective candidate for the seat, BJP sources said.
