Mumbai: In an effort to draw on the universal appeal for Bollywood, UTV Movies will make its debut in the UK this month.

Premiering on the Sky platform, the Hindi language movie channel, will also carry English subtitles.

UTV Movies Business Head Sameer Ganapathy said that UTV Movies India will be available on BSkyB platform as a free to air channel from December 12. BSkyB is UK's large multi-channel television provider making it the preferred choice to launch in the market.

 UTV Movies has associated with one of UK’s largest media sales houses – Sky Media, which comes with an extensive media prowess in the region.

"Bollywood movies are massively popular in the UK and with UTV Movies India we hope to increase its gaining popularity. Television viewers in the UK will now be able to enjoy rich and vibrant Bollywood movies on the channel," he said when asked about expectations from the UK market in terms of viewership and ad sales.

"We are confident of Sky Media's capability of maximizing our ad revenues and look forward to a successful entry into the region," he said.
