"The inauguration of the flyover would mark the birthday of senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The flyover would provide great relief to the people from the problem of traffic jams," city Mayor Bharat Dangar said.

"The flyover would bring an end to the ordeal of over two years, that the citizens had been facing while commuting through Fatehgunj area in the city, which is an important area that connects city's civil airport Harni and the Vadodara railway station," Dangar cited.

Gujarat Finance Minister Saurabh Patel, who had laid the foundation stone of the flyover in October, 2013, said, "This flyover is the second one constructed on Gaurav Path christened as Sayaji Path from the Airport Circle to Akshar Chowk. Earlier, the Amitnagar flyover was constructed on the route."

Over one-km-long flyover has been built at a cost of Rs 62.98 crore, city Municipal Commissioner H S Patel cited. The beautification work under the flyover would be completed soon. A part of the space under the flyover would be  utilised for parking, he said.
