Chennai: Newly inducted ministers in Jayalalithaa's cabinet, B Valarmathi and M S M Anandhan, were on Tuesday sworn-in at a function at Raj Bhavan here.

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah administered the oath of office and secrecy to them.

Valarmathi took over as Social Welfare Minister while Anandan will handle the portfolio of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments.

On Decmber 9, Law Minister M Paranjothi, who also held HR & CE portfolio, resigned following a police case against him, based on a woman's complaint that he had cheated her of 60 sovereigns of jewels while Social Welfare Minister Selvi Ramajayam was sacked by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the third cabinet reshuffle in seven months since she assumed power.

School Education Minister C Ve Shanmugam will hold additional charge of Law, Courts and Prisons, earlier held by Paranjothi.
