This new operating system is available to any manufacturer who wants to make gaming hardware for the big screen. This appears to be a move by Valve to take on the gaming market dominated by PlayStation (Sony) and Xbox (Microsoft).

This software enables home streaming which allows users to play all Windows and Mac games as well as watch movies and TV, listen to music and share games.

The company is anticipated to launch its own machine to run on the operating system, which is likely to be named as Stream Box. Valve’s Linux-based operating system that will be available for download soon.
