Addressing his supporters outside the BJP headquarters in the national capital, Modi congratulated all the saffron party workers and said the verdict of the Lok Sabha polls has instilled confidence in the party ranks.

“There is a new confidence in the party workers. You are all part of this celebration. Please credit this victory to all BJP karyakartas,” he said.

Earlier, when Modi arrived at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, the party workers showered flowers on him.

Modi received a grand welcome as a sea of supporters waved BJP flags, blew conches, beat drums, danced and shouted slogans as soon as the country’s next Prime Minister stepped out of the airport after flying in from Gujarat. The celebrations continued through the entire route.

Besides the BJP president, the seven newly-elected BJP MPs from Delhi were among those who received Modi, visiting Delhi a day after the announcement of the Lok Sabha results.

As Modi set out from the airport, he leaned out of the front window and flashed a victory sign.

Several top BJP leaders including Lal Krishna Advani and Sushma Swaraj have arrived at the BJP’s headquarters to attend the parliamentary board meeting where a final decision is likely to be taken on Modi’s Cabinet.
