Firozepur: In order to keep a check on increasing incidents of Zaharkhurani gangs robbing people in trains by giving them poison, the Railway has taken some firm measures including video-graphy of trains to deal with the menace.

According to reports, the Railway has decided to take this initiative to protect travelers who fall victim to the active poison gangs in the Firozepur region following the directions of the Divisional Railway Manager, Firozepur Division, Biswesh Choubey.

The Railway will now make video footage of trains about to move or during their stay at Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Jammu railway stations. The biggest advantage of the video footage will be that those under suspicion to be the members of the gang can be identified easily.

Senior Commandant of RPF, Ferozepur Division, Alok Nath said, “The RPF will display photos of gang members caught in the last five years on flax boards at ticket booking centres, various platforms, passenger waiting rooms and station parkings.

The boards will enable passengers to identify the gang members and avoid being a victim of the robbery.

In addition, the Railway Protection Force has also formed special teams of personnel who will mingle with people in plain clothes. The members will also be provided with small weapons for self-defense.
