"I really think it is none of my business to be judging anyone but I have the greatest admiration for Kangana because she is standing up for herself," Vidya told reporters here.

"I think that is very creditable because as women we find it very easy to stand up for other people, our family members, children, husbands, parents but we rarely stand up for ourselves.  She (Kangana) is standing up for herself, so kudos to her and more power to her for that," the "Kahani" actress added. Vidya was speaking at the trailer launch of her upcoming film ‘Te3n’. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was also present at the event.

When asked what he feels about the ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actress, who sat beside him during the national award ceremony recently, the 73-year-old ‘Piku’ star was more cautious in his reply.

"Can't decide the behaviour of a person, or what he or she is going through, by sitting beside them... But I appreciate that women are empowered, they stand on their feet,” he said.

"We've always believed that women should have their own strength. Fifty percent of the nation’s population, so there should be as many women and that much strength should be there. They should have importance in society and we have always believed that," added the megastar

Earlier, Kangana's father Amardeep Ranaut acknowledges that she has shown great courage in every sphere of her life and he is proud of her.

Her father accompanied her along with other family members to the national capital to receive the National Award for her film ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’.

Amardeep Ranaut said it was a proud moment to see his daughter receive her third National Award from President Pranab Mukherjee here.

"... I am very happy. I am a proud father and it is a matter of great pride," he said.
Speaking about her daughter's success and her legal battle with Hrithik, the senior Ranaut said, "I am very proud of my daughter's achievements. She has shown exemplary courage in every sphere of her life and I stand by her in all her legal battles”.
Issues between the two actors surfaced when Kangana hinted at Hrithik being her ‘silly ex' during an interview, adding that she fails to understand ‘why exes do silly things to get your attention’.

This gives an interesting turn to a strained father-daughter relationship, complications of which have been discussed by Kangana on more than one occasion. There have been numerous interviews where the ‘Queen’ actress accepted the fact that her parents, especially father, were extremely conservative and did not want her to make a career in the film industry.

This statement by Kangana’s father came after Shekhar Suman, father of Kangana’s ex boyfriend Adhyayan Suman alleged that she did black magic on his son which was followed by extreme bashing of the actress on social media with people  calling her names and even branding her as a ‘witch’ and vampire.

However, Kangana seems set to face adversities with courage. In a recent television interview, she said that these comments and name calling do not deter her and she is not ashamed of her life. She further said that she can handle any type of situation even if she is not supported by anyone.
