Dehradun: In a bid to improve the economy and generate employment in Uttarakhand, newly elected Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Wednesday  held a meeting with top officials in the secretariat and directed them to work impartially.

Emphasising on generating revenue, Bahuguna directed all the officials and state Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar to prepare report cards so that the development schemes could be given an impetus.

Stating that roads were the axis of development, he called for improving quality of roads and also asked the officials to check vehicles regularly in order to curb road accidents. He asked the state Transport Department to utilise the funds meant for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

Showing keen interest in the tourism sector, he asked the Tourism Secretary SS Sandhu to prepare a blueprint for the development of tourism in the Tehri-Garhwal region.
