Nagpur: Medium pacer Shailender Gehlot scalped six wickets as Railways registered an easy victory over Madhya Pradesh by nine wickets in a Central Zone match of the National One-Day Championship for the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Thursday.

Railways captain Sanjay Bangar opted to field and both Gehlot (6/20) and other seamer Krishna Kant Upadhayay (3/22) justified their skipper's decision as MP batsmen struggled in seaming conditions - shot out for 48 in 17.3 overs.

Of the 11 players, 10 couldn't reach double digits and four were dismissed without troubling the scorers.

Another highlight of the match was Railways' keeper Mahesh Rawat snaring seven catches which is a new List A record in the history of Indian domestic cricket.

The MP batsmen had no answer to swinging deliveries bowled by Gehlot and Upadhayay with only Rameez Khan (14) getting into double dights.

MP lost their first four wickets with less than 10 runs on board and never recovered from there on.

The Railways knocked off the runs in only 10 overs with Amit Paunikar (22 not out) and Faiz Fazal (17 not out) chasing without much difficulty.

Brief Scores: MP 48 in 17.3 overs (S Gehlot 6/20, KK Upadhyay 3/22). Railways 49/1 in 10 overs (A Paunikar 22 no).
